The graduating class of Midland Community high school observed baccalaureate services in the Wyoming high school auditorium Sunday. Mrs. John Miller played the processional, led by Kay Walters and Leslie Westphal. Rev. Robert R. Ahrens of Zion delivered the scripture and prayer.
The United Presbyterian Women will gather in Scotch Grove on June 6 at 7 30 p.m. with hostess Mrs L J Hughes and assistant hostess Mrs Ed Zirkelbach. Mrs Robert Zirkelbach and Mrs Donald Grom lead the topic and devotion.
Monticello American Red Cross raised 2105.38 in its fund campaign led by drive chair Marshall Wynn. Despite a 2450 goal and hoped 3000 target, gains came from multiple township and ward chairmen with detailed contributions. The day includes local club events and health updates.
Gail Bader of Cedar Rapids and Margi Sanders of Bellevue visited the Bader home. John Monk was honored at a May 20 supper by Mr and Mrs John Monk on his Monticello public school graduation. Guests included the Doughertys and Don Monk families. Albert Johnson and Russell visited the Spechts. Carol Dougherty and Elizabeth Specht joined weekend gatherings with grandparents and neighbors.
Mr and Mrs Robert Lawrence hosted a family gathering Thursday evening honoring their daughter Roberta after her graduation from Monticello High School. Guests included Clarence Schmidt Wesley Lawrence and Robert Lemmer. John Monk left Monday with F F A boys on a western trip returning Friday. Wayne King family visited Delmar King home. John Campbell family spent weekend with Frank Campbell Ames. Arnold Thalacker family were supper guests of Max Specht.
Mrs. Jack Margrat visits Los Angeles relatives while a Taylor family reunion gathers at Anamosa’s Wapsipinicon State Park. South Prairie Homemakers elect officers Lester French president Hinrichs vice president Koch secretary treasurer. Four members post perfect attendance. Judy Paulsen of Cedar Falls returns for Monticello high school graduation events.
Sunday dinner and afternoon guests flocked to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moore Bramer with invitations extended to Leonard Fluckiger Monticello Freddie Himes and family Cedar Rapids Herschel and Roy Dighton and R G Dighton Hopkinton visiting Cedar Rapids. Onslow pinochle club met with a 1:30 dessert luncheon won by Lucy Huston Eva Chatterton and Anna Holtz. Raymond Koranda injured foot and leg while mowing. Al Fuchs Marion visited Onslow. Melody Holub Wyoming stayed with Connie Paulsen. George Paulson traveled to Chicago related to cattle on the market. Irene Streeper Doreen Monticello and the Marvin Snyder family joined Fred Bramer and family for Sunday dinner.
