A public notice urges orderly movement and parking on Decoration Day to prevent congestion. Automobiles with grave decorations may enter until 11 a.m. and must leave promptly after unloading. Drivers should park on the north side of the road, keep drives clear, and avoid parking on the south side or on grass. Foot traffic should stay off cement drives and all cars must be out by 11.
Morality talks by Miss Emily Porter at local events
Miss Emily Porter of the World's Purity Federation gave a series of talks last Tuesday in the city. She lectured high school girls and boys on clean living and parental relations, then addressed mothers and finally spoke on moral responsibility at the Methodist Episcopal Church. The talks cited four temptations: the automobile, the dance, moving pictures, and women's dress. Separately, Henry W. Higging, longtime railway conductor between Davenport and Monticello, died May 21 at his Davenport home after years of illness. He was born September 12, 1861, married in 1884 to Rose Malone, and survived by wife, son John C. Higgins, brother John F. Higgins, and three grandchildren. Funeral was at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. A note concludes that there is not a more reliable jewelry store than Keyes.
