Rural one room school in Jones county closes after 100 years
Spencerville one room school near Wyoming, about a mile from the Jackson county line, ends 100 year history with 14 students ringing the bell. Hazel Bearinger, teaching 22 years, led the final day as students carried lunch boxes shaped like buses and used a milk can water source. Next year Midland Community School will absorb Spencerville pupils and staff.
