Settlement Reached In Anamosa Desk Factory Dispute
A petit jury was not empaneled in district court until Wednesday morning to hear Casey Tulus Schip Kowaky v The Welch Co. The defendant operates a school desk factory at Anamosa. The plaintiff, a skilled worker, sued for unpaid salary and property conversion claiming the company used his materials. A settlement was reached this morning pending trial.

Two Gentlemen Sail for Europe on Cunard Liner Carpathia
Chas S Bidwell and J W Coxsee sail on the Carpathia on the Cunard line on the 30th for Europe to spend three months. They plan independent travel visiting Ireland Scotland England Holland Belgium Germany Switzerland Italy and France. They return aboard the Etraria leaving Liverpool September 2. Bidwell goes to Vineland New Jersey next Saturday then New York after visiting his father. Doxaee leaves next Wednesday.

Grand jury returns four indictments in Anamosa term
The grand jury discharged for the term returned four indictments including assault against Charles Elliott and Charles Barker of Anamosa for attacking a colored woman. William Snyder of Monticello and Anamosa faces seduction charges while Ernest Ackerman of Monticello is indicted for burglary. Trials slated for early next week.
