Exploding Bottle Wounds Child In Sand Springs
In Sand Springs a bottle of soda exploded injuring five year old Joyce Seibold. A piece of glass struck her eye and she was rushed to Mercy hospital Cedar Rapids for several days of observation and possible eye surgery. The report also notes a gathering at the John Batchelder home before Mrs Batch elder underwent eye surgery at St Luke's hospital on Thursday May 9.

Dr Karl Keyes of Monticello attended a three day Iowa Optometric association congress opening at Fort Dodge high school May 5. A Winter Haven Florida school vision screening description was presented. Lions International received the 1957 public service award. Teachers and educators were told that up to one in four first graders may struggle due to vision issues.
