Railroad service cut to weekly denied for Marion to Calmar line
The Iowa Commerce Commission denied the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific Railroad request to reduce service on the Marion to Calmar branch through Monticello. A March hearing featured railroad officials and shippers, and a Marion to Calmar Hotline was launched to improve coordination. Public relations and potential subsidies were discussed as studies continue. The ruling is final pending further analysis. We note births marriages licenses new cars and trucks and police court listings from the same issue.
