Margaret Wismeier hosted a birthday dinner with guests including Mr. and Mrs. William Jarrett, Mrs. Bessie Bande, Eugene Byers, and Miss Emma Grote of Monticello. Walter Kiburz of Kansas City visited Mr. and Mrs. John Schweitzer Sunday. Bernard Che, Monticello high school student, is invited as a special guest to the Weishea at Iowa State College in Ames May 10–12 for the all college celebration with sports and exhibits. High school students from across the state expected.

Notice to stockholders of Monticello Iowa meeting November 28 1933 announcing amendment to Article 4 establishing authorized capital stock 100000 divided into 2000 common and 8000 preferred shares with 5 percent cumulative non voting preferred dividends redeemable at par plus accrued, liquidation priority over common stock. Officers authorize execution and filing.

Illness in Rev. A Alyea's family caused no preaching last Sunday but Sunday school drew a fair turnout. Next Sunday May 6 services move to 9 30 am with Sunday school at 10 30 am. Rev Alyea hopes to resume work soon. Sunbeam mission band meets May 6 at 10 30 am with Lois Naylor leading devotional and Mrs Sinclair in charge. Farmers report progress hampered by dry weather winds and dust storms. Farm Bureau meets May 8 with Phil Daly instructing on Production Credit. Friends invited to enjoy singing and guitar accompaniment by Tarzan Collier Rolla Missouri. Scotch Grove Sunshine Girls met April 28 Lorain Jacobs host Maeda Weers assisting.
The program featured color testing for gowns and a talk on hair care titled Hair the Crowning Glory by Wilma Moats. Constance Naylor demonstrated lingerie and patterns were cut. Guests included Leola Johnson from Rosemead and visitors from Hopkinton and Lisbon as local travel and county Achievement Day activities continued.

John McDonald pioneer dies in Jones county. Frances Walsh dies in Bernard. Melvin Knox death reported after car accident. East Cascade child nearly drowns in a local incident.
In Dubuque County a youngster fell into a six foot deep cistern and was saved after Mr Holdren heard screams. Separately the Federated Women's Clubs of Dubuque County met in Cascade at Mrs Leo Knenpets home with delegates from Dubuque Dyersville and Farley. The program included music speeches and library talks with Mrs Herbert Adams Mrs W A Smith Mrs J Rider Wallis and Mrs A B Rathbun among presenters.
Amber and W J Zimmerman celebrated their seventeenth wedding anniversary with friends and neighbors, a midnight lunch, and a five hundred card game won by Herman Helgens. Chris Mareinsen hosted a dance and card party for his son John’s twenty first birthday with fifty guests. Follow up home sanitation lesson led by Mrs Eugene Batley. Siebels Brothers built a new Aermoster windmill on the Zimmerman farm. Various residents visited neighbors and hosted dinners at home in the area around Scotch Grove Anamosa Center Junction and Monticello. An accident near gravel turned vehicle left Dress with minor injuries and Gerdes bed rest but later recovered.
Mrs. Edward Templeton returned from a month in San Antonio Texas. Families from Anamosa Davenport Urbana and Cedar Rapids visited relatives in Monticello. A ten pound boy born May 1 to Don Harter and Alma Budl and Miss Nelle Wilson left teaching for medical care at Sunny Crest sanatorium Dubuque. Dr A M Maurice attended a Cedar Rapids dental convention. Paul Locher and brothers at Iowa City college.
Local residents report visits among families in Cedar Rapids Cedar Falls Manchester and Davenport. Anticipation of rain noted as April ends with moisture needed for pastures and fields. Dr. R E Foreman advertised chiropractor services at Palmer's Drug Store Monticello Iowa.
