De Vere Barger son of Morris Barger former Watkins dealer was injured in a car truck collision in Daytona Beach. A semi struck Barger's car broadside. he was admitted to a local hospital with hip injuries facial cuts and a head concussion. He is recovering.

Researchers To Talk With Cleft Lip Children Parents
Iowa City reporters report State University of Iowa researchers will interview parents of normal children in Anamosa and nearby towns to study how home environment affects cleft lip and palate children. The first phase interviewed 175 affected children and their parents. phase two seeks 175 matching normal children. Participants receive ten dollars plus transportation for some interviews, with follow ups planned in Sigourney and Oskaloosa.

Farmers Urged to Follow Soil Bank Contracts in County
Richard O. Hartwig, chairman of the Jones County A.S.C. committee, warns farmers with land in the soil bank to fully comply with acreage allotments and base crop rules. Exceeding permitted land or any allotment can cost annual rental payments and incur civil penalties. If all cropland is in the soil bank the permitted acreage is zero. E W Phend of Wyoming has an outstanding Holstein production record. Echo Fobes Posch yielded 17 627 pounds of milk and 708 pounds of butterfat in 365 days with twice daily milking at age seven. Iowa State College and the Holstein association supervised the HLR testing under the Herd Improvement Registry program.

Doe Killed by Car East of Wyoming on Training Drive
A young doe was struck and killed instantly three miles east of Wyoming while a driving student, Terry Chandler, piloted a 1959 Plymouth for a Wyo ming Driver's Training Auto. The deer leaped into the road from the Lee Williams farm area. the grill and radiator were damaged, and the sheriff and Anamosa Reformatory officials collected the carcass after Adra Lane bled it.
