Michael Hatfield led a photography demonstration at the Sacred Heart Science Fair Friday evening. Judge Keith Lubbock, biology instructor at Monticello Community High School, and Sacred Heart student Donna Parker visited the exhibit.
Greg Norlin explains his taxidermy exhibit to the camera as Jeanne Mary Cabrini and Doug Kremer observe from the left at the fair. The project is one of 21 entries in the display lineup.
Sacred Heart high school students Donald Eilers and Donald Luensman entered a joint experiment on synthetic rubber in the Science Fair Friday evening.
Janet Beckman and Suzanne Fleming took first place for the joint project Even Mice Need Vitamins. Judges included Mrs Paul Kurt and Keith Lubbock biology instructor at Monti cello Community High School.
The Monticello Young Adult Farmers program held its final session Monday night after starting January 4. Grover Miehe, the instructor, reported an average attendance of 15 with 16 attending three or more meetings and four attending all sessions from a group of 46 enrolled men.
Permits for remodeling and new construction totaling over $1,000 were issued to Emil Prull Paul Ladehoff and many others, plus extensive projects at Farmers Mutual Creamery Coop and several residences. Additional entries cover garages matches and wear-listed reshingles, awnings and repairs, with three criminal charges filed Friday including OMVI and larceny cases.
Ronald Long filed a writ of habeas corpus alleging illegal detention while in the men's reformatory at Anamosa. Henry Boner, paroled after a fourth offense OMVI conviction, had his license revoked. Raymond Taylor faced a $300 OMVI fine with staged payments and a 60 day license suspension.
A Monticello justice docket lists speeding fines for several individuals, plus marriage licenses for Stephen Schultz and Judith Sorensen. Car registrations include multiple makes and owners across Jones County. A two car collision at First and North Sycamore last week led to Florence Eldrenkamp being charged for failure to yield. Harland Hall’s vehicle sustained total damage.
