A hundredth birthday celebration for Grandfather Bradley on March 18 at his Amber home included relatives and friends who presented an easy chair. Born March 18 1805 in Leicestershire England he married Jane Raynes in 1838. They moved to America in 1849 and to Jones County in 1861. He survived by son J R Lamona Town and daughter Mrs Jennie Sheen Highmore SD.
The Jones County Telephone Company denies reports of 20 to 50 phones removed from the Monticello exchange under manager Chipman. Six phones were removed by former friends of the previous manager, while the new manager installed several new lines at local residences and a barber shop. A new directory with 480 Monticello subscribers will be issued next week.
In Monticello the school board met in regular session after approving last meeting minutes. Members Stirton Tiarks Coxsee Hall Inglis discussed bills and adjourned to organize the new board. J W Doxsee and George Inglis were elected directors. R P Stirton named president. Committees named. motion to hire an assistant teacher for sixth and seventh grades passed.
