Our view urges Monticello residents to back Camp Fire birthday observance March 11 to 18. The piece highlights 206 local members including Bluebirds Camp Fire girls and Horizon club members, with 31 leaders guiding activities and community service and calls for wider adult participation.
The Peniel Presbyterian church fellowship in Castle Grove held a spring cleaning meeting on Thursday March 1. Luncheon hosted by Mrs Sam Strief with several ladies assisting. Thirteen members attended the regular monthly session led by Mrs William Marsh. Bible study covered Ephesians and Exodus with plans to finish Exodus in March and discuss it in April led by Mrs Richard Skelley. Mrs Richard Shelley read "The Crucifixion" by James Weldon Johnson.
Mrs Ann Gerdes hosted the Ladies Aid of SS Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in the church parlors on Friday March 2 with seventeen members present Rev Paul Kenyon led a discussion on the life of Rebecca continuing the Bible study A quartette with Mrs Ed Stadtmueller Mrs Max Specht Mrs Ben Eiben and Rev Kenyon plus Mrs John Oltmann provided music The group planned to clean the church floor on Thursday March 22 Refreshments were served by Mrs Gerdes after the meeting

Harold Heideman home hosts Mr and Mrs Nic Miller Dethi and Mr and Mrs Cornelius Cormack Monmouth. Mrs Herman Seehusen returns from Cedar Rapids to help husband with spring painting. Mrs John E Paulsen hosts birthday dinner for her husband with Paulsen family members present, and a Cedar Rapids visit for Hervey DeWees.
Twelve members of the Prairieburg volunteer fire department and six board members of the Prairieburg Community Fire association with their wives enjoyed a fish supper at Poplar Heights in Monticello on Sunday evening February 26. Mr and Mrs Bob Woodward and Joan, Mrs Sara Devlin, Lewis Devlin and Mary Ann Cashman attended the 40th anniversary in honor of Mr and Mrs George Monaghan in Coggon Sunday afternoon.
Connie Kula spent Friday and Saturday evening with Joan Smith, sharing time in social gatherings and in quiet companionship during the weekend.
Leo Lawrence led a group of 4-H Prairie Panthers boys to Monticello Monday evening for a basketball game against Sacred Heart. The report lists multiple social visits and gatherings across Monticello Manchester Central City Anamosa Cedar Rapids and St Paul with extended family and friends.
