Jail Break by Dynamite Shocks Anamosa County
Sheriff John Bodenhofer reports two alleged criminals George Slinter and Will Adams dynamited a jail side at midnight in Anamosa. They escaped through a hole large enough for a motorcycle, fled in a stolen car, and were found later in a barn near Martelle after frostbite left them treated in jail. An earlier ouster near Oxford Junction involved a store robbery thwarted by a revolver and a train crossing. Investigators believe a confederate supplied the explosives through a jail window.
