Hopkinton Weekly Band Concerts Begin June 22

Hopkinton schedules weekly band concerts every Wednesday from June 22 through August 17. Community notices report visitors and recoveries, including R W Reggentine and William Bartels visiting Andy Smith at the Town City Veterans hospital, with Mr. Smith slowly improving after five weeks of hospitalization. All Iowa Fair Offers National Sew Contests and Prizes

The 1955 All Iowa Fair women’s department unveils 83 cash prizes across 11 divisions including crochet and the “sew with cotton bags” national contests. Andy Hanson announced trophies and $3,000 national prizes for 16 crochet blue ribbons, plus a portable sewing machine and $2,500 in national rewards for the sweepstakes winner. Other divisions cover quilts, rugs, embroidery, knitting, ceramics, and more.

June Ann Harms Weds Eugene Clark at Anamosa

June 19 ceremony at St. Pauls American Lutheran Anamosa united June Ann Harms daughter of E W Harms and Eugene Clark son of the late Bert Clark in a lace and satin gown with chantilly detail. Attendants included Loras Kremer and Mrs Schneiter with Rex Clark and Everett Clark as groomsmen. The reception followed for about 175 guests. The couple will reside in Cedar Rapids after a weeklong honeymoon.
