Mrs. C. R. Smith spoke at the UPW gathering in Scotch Grove about her Alaska trip with Presbyterian friends. Oak Drive Community club in Monticello met with 18 members. plans outlined for July 11 park picnic. Birthday songs, get well cards, and prizes noted. several guests and new members listed. A sudden storm woke residents around 3 am and half an inch of rain fell. Memorial day visits and Bible vacation school programs were reported with staff and attendees named.

Sand Springs Mr and Mrs J C Price hosted a birthday party for their twin daughters on Sunday. Attending were the families of Roger Nina McDonald of Monticello and George Tina Ellison Jr. of Anamosa. Bible school wraps up at Center Junction church
Center Junction Presbyterian Church ended its Bible school on June 10 with about 50 children attending. Primary teachers included Mrs. John Gray and Mrs. Robert Lyon. junior and junior high staff led activities for many students, and volunteers such as Mrs. Gladys McNeilly assisted. Numerous families and neighbors were noted in attendance and in surrounding events through the week.

Richard N. Kremer Seaman Third Class received an honorable discharge from the U S Navy after four years of service. He trained at San Diego and served aboard the U S S 5 Picket in the Pacific as assistant radar mechanic and post master general aboard. Since discharge he works as credit manager for American Acceptance Corp in Oakland California.
