Wyoming township elects representative to county extension council

Only 10 voters showed up for Wyoming township's first meeting to elect a representative to the Jones County Agricultural Extension council, part of a series of 16 township elections. The council will replace the county Farm Bureau board as set by a spring Iowa law and aims to launch the county extension program with volunteer participation.

Seeley Completes Eight-Week Driving Course in Hawaii

Anamosa Army Pvt. Larry E. Seeley, husband of Janiece Seeley of Anamosa, completed an eight week wheel vehicle driving course at Schofield Barracks Hawaii. The program covered emergency roadside repairs convoy driving at night and in congested areas open road convoying and daylight and blackout tactical motor marches. Seeley enlisted August 1954 and earned his high school diploma from Anamosa High School in 1953.

Pfc Gehl of Cascade Spends Leave in Tokyo

Pfc. James J. Gehl 22 son of Mr and Mrs Francis Gehl Cascade recently spent a week in Tokyo on leave from his unit in Korea He is a truck driver with the 83rd ordnance ammunition battalion headquarters detachment Gehl entered the army November 1953 and trained at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri He arrived in the Far East last December.

Monticello Residents Visit Howard Hobart Home Sunday
