Simon Chamberlain aged 88 dies at his daughter Mrs Sam Campbell’s home after a long life in Iowa. Born May 5 1812 in Vermont he moved to Monticello in 1868 and was a Methodist and Mason. Four daughters survive and services were led by Rev D S Staebler. Also noted are the death of Chas Buttolph, a veteran of 76, at Monticello, and an arrest of Tillie Gonpstom known as Tillie Fleming for keeping a house of ill fame with bail set at 500.
