July 21 1884 Scotc Grove Iowa letter reports oats nearly ready for har vest with a full crop. Joe Neff station agent returns after funeral of Fay ette county official. Ira Webb postmaster went to Anamosa to see the elephant. Rev Truman delivered a strong sermon The Tabernacle noting it was the best discourse in long time but delivered to a small audience.
Miss Mare Kaylor of Monticello led a successful Rocky Ridge district term ending Friday the 18th with a well received young folks picnic near the McKay springs. Students performed declamations and readings by Fred and Frank Sutherland Bert Clark Zena School Kitty Cooper Nellie Glenn and Lillie Hall.
R. M. Bush and Judy back from Chicago. L. C. Aldrich returns from the east. S. H. Barrett’s Monster shows drew about 4,500 spectators. Rev. Van Ness and Rev. J. B. Fiske depart for a two week vacation. Geo. Hitchcock welcomed a bouncing baby boy. News are scarce this week.

July 21 1884 reports T W Little suffered a severe accident when a cow trod him while driving a cow and calf. he is bruised but expected to recover. Miss Sherman and Minnie Brown close schools. Miss Mary Landero starts a new term next Monday. Geo Brown purchases a new buggy and proclaims himself Tony. Hay harvest is active with a very good crop. The Fiuyvinag DurcuMan.
Greenfield Indiana July 18 1884 farmers report good crops after two poor years and plan for fairs. E V Berkshire fame criticizes Anamosa Driving Park premium list while listing farm produce and numbers. A Democratic critic comments on New York papers and Blaine support with Chicago Journal reply hinted.
