Seventeen Monticello Cub Scouts with eight fathers joined Lad and Dad Day at Camp Waubeek for 10 year old Cubs. They spent the day on crafts cooking swimming and canoeing with competitive events. The Monticello group won the attendance award and four Cubs earned individual honors: Mike Schmidt nature Brad Freese Toni Faust archery and Bob Bossard rifle. Dads present included Reverend Eddie West Bill Coan Louie Freese Paul Gassman Lawrence Brockhohn Jack Schmidt George Eastburn and Bill Stuhler.

Temple Hill honors Dave Oberbroeckling with luau and party
Sunday night July 2 Jim Koppes hosted a hayride and cookout at Herbert Kopps home in Temple Hill to honor Dave Oberbroeckling who left for the Navy on July 12. About 125 friends attended from nearby towns and beyond including Ken Kelchen John Altoff and many Oberbroecklings. A cash gift was presented. guests traveled from Cedar Rapids Anamosa Dubuque Richardsville Manchester Chicago and other areas for the event.
