Dairy calf 4-H clubs plan summer demonstrations and tours
Dairy calf 4-H clubs will hold fitting showing and management demonstrations in July led by Iowa State Dairy Association staff and 4-H leaders. Jones County hosts sessions on July 6 and 11 with state staff aiding both boys and girls teams. The county teams may advance to the Town State Fair.

Weeds Discussed at Castle Grove Farm Bureau Meeting
Jones County farmers gathered Friday at Castle Grove Township Farm Bureau to discuss weed control in crops. Fred Heiken directed the program as samples of Canada Thistle Quack Grass Horse Nettle and Devil's Shoe String were identified and cultural and chemical controls were reviewed. Dr. J Irwin Maquoketa was named inspector in charge of the Bangs disease eradication program in eastern Town district replacing Dr. N D Sneel. he will assist farmers in cooperative efforts to eradicate the cattle disease.

Niles to Screen Paychek Strickland and Louis Galento Fights
Niles announces a three day fight picture show next Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday July 11 12 and 18. The Paychek Strickland and Louis Galento fight films headline the event.
