Death of W H Hartman Waterloo Courier Pioneer Printer
W H Hartman, longtime editor and publisher of the Waterloo Courier, dies at Waterloo last Monday. A pioneer in eastern Iowa printing, he started in Anamosa in 1852 and later worked at Delhi and Cedar Falls before moving to Waterloo in 1859 to publish the Waterloo Courier. He also launched the Daily Courier in 1890 and served as Waterloo postmaster for twelve years beginning in 1873. Hartman, a native of Allentown Pennsylvania, guided the paper for decades.
