In Ames on January 19 the Page county trio Martin Johnson Bernard Haagland and Edwin Sawhill won the 250 prize for best work in a junior corn judging contest. Hardin county took second with Stephen Jackson earning a 50 dollar medal. Cerro Gordo placed third. Other contests awarded prizes including dairy and poultry judging with medals and cash in various classes. A total of 750 dollars in prizes was realized from the junior and senior shows. In a dramatic medical note Sisters at Mount Carmel in Dubuque underwent a skin grafting miracle leading to the first steps after three years.
