Jones County District Court Faces Variety of Sentences and Filings

In Jones county district court last week Robert D. Luensman was fined 300 dollars and jailed two days for OMVUS with a 120 day license revocation. Kenneth A. Hartwig received six months in jail for license suspended driving, with two years probation. An application to revoke probation was denied due to his employment supporting a large family. A Jan 14 verdict found Harold D. Butler guilty of robbery without aggravation, with sentencing set for Feb 21. Other items include guilty pleas for OMVUS by Kenneth E. Sauer and a not guilty plea by Richard J. Carpenter Jr. on escape, plus a 27,867.69 judgment against Dooley and foreclosure of a lien tied to Community Bowling Lanes. Case settlements noted in Wright Grain Co. vs Schellin, a divorce granted for Judith and Richard Albers with child custody details, and several new filings including possession of controlled substances for Twachtmann and Bartels. A lien and counterclaim filed in Manson Houmes matter amid Cedar Rapids Lumber suit against Ervin Graver.

Paving slated on county E-17 from Scotch Grove to 136

Earl Beisell county engineer announces plans for E-17 on Jones County from Scotch Grove east to Iowa 136. The project, to be graded with bridges culverts and temporary rock surfacing in 1975, will be followed by paving in 1978. Six miles of improvement. Public hearing possible. written requests due by 3 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Anamosa courthouse.

Meals on Wheels reports 1598 meals served in four months

At the Jan. 21 board meeting treasurer Lenore Hetzler announced 1598 meals had been delivered since the program began last Sept. 3. Evelyn Greenawald said an average of 13 meals daily. February deliveries will be by Wayne Lutheran volunteers led by Marilyn Freese.
