Second graders build a bird feeding station and observe birds like cardinal bluejay and nuthatch while studying birds in science. Sixth grade studies Australian animals with clay models and reports.
Last Monday evening January 5 the Triem meeting featured an agriculture lecture on contour farming. Melvin Hein led the program with model farms from the agriculture room and explained the mathematics involved. The session was open for general discussion and questions.

Mary Lou Luett Marion Deisch er and Mildred Jacobs led baton twirling exhibition between halves at the Monti Roosevelt game last Tuesday January 18 with various twirls and stunts performed by the trio and the band.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars invites Monticello high school students from Monti High and Sacred Heart to submit essays on Unity for Victory. Entries due to Mrs John Jacobs by February 14 with prizes of defense stamps for winners.
Faculty members and their wives attended a dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Shannon on January 14 at 6:30 pm to honor Gilbert Hobson as he leaves to join the air corps. Guests signed a memory book for Hobson and the evening closed with games and group singing.
Latin Club members join the Caravan pen pal group sending and receiving letters from England, the Gold Coast, and South America. Some members have letters from new friends while others await replies.
