County Supervisors Set Salaries For Jones County Workers
Board action in regular session Tuesday approved set salaries for county employees led by deputy sheriff Larry Himes at 4632.50 and deputy auditor Helen Murray at 3880. Other posts include clerk staff at 3880, health nurse Marian Serbousek at 3000, and janitors Yount and Chaloupka at 3400 and 2400 respectively. Secondary road fund salaries list engineers, draftsmen, and clerks with amounts from 3400 to 10500. The meeting also approves M. E. McCrabb 1963 justice of the peace report and grants a Class B beer permit to R&J Station.

Olin cafe break in leads to court dates for two
Two Olin residents Richard E. Petersen 24 and Larry Allan Fisher 16 will appear in court at 10 a.m. Friday Jan 17 after being charged with breaking and entering in a Jan 8 break in at Olin Corners cafe. Petersen posted $2500 bail and Fisher $500. Cash and snacks were stolen and a kitchen window pried open during the 2:30 a.m. Wednesday crime. juke box coin box entry failed.

Monticello Awarded August Street Work Contracts
August bids totaling 68147 for Monticello street work were awarded to Hargrave and Tri State. Hargrave will pave and sealcoat with concrete and storm sewer on multiple streets for 36126.05, while Tri State received 32021.69 for concrete paving with curb on two other streets.
