Ottumwa resident William Gilmore was found dead with a crushed head along the Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern road about 20 miles east of New Albany Indiana. He was last seen with a male companion whose whereabouts police are tracing after a quarrel near Otisco.

In Watseka Illinois a boiler explosion wrecked Bishons mill operated by Pure Food Milling Richards and Spohrie. Partner John Spohrie and engineer Lute Mallett were killed instantly while miller Eva Jones was slightly injured as the boiler was hurled 200 feet and tore Gard's hardware store wall in two.
A severe wind storm damaged Tieno and nearby areas as the southbound Nevada California Oregon train was struck at Doyles, 40 miles north of Reno, hurling it from the rails. Four passengers and three trainmen sustained injuries.

Two Black men named Jim Denson and his half brother were abducted from the county jail by unidentified assailants on Thursday night. They were led into the woods about a half mile from town and killed as bullets riddled their bodies. A farmer named Frederick Redding is mentioned in connection with the incident.
