Home Burns. Four Daughters Die in Versailles Fire
Versailles Indiana February 25. The home of George James four miles from here burned Saturday morning killing James and his four daughters. The mother and another son were away. The 65 year old Civil War veteran died in the blaze after attempting to rescue his family. A 12 year old escaped and alerted neighbors but the house collapsed before help arrived. The boy suffered burns and a cut from glass.

In Coun cil Bluffs a district court jury, after singing hymns including Nearer My God to Thee, found for the defendant in the case brought by Thomas D Thompson against the Woman's Christian Association. Thompson claimed his wife was injured when a hot-water bag rested against her feet at the association hospital. The prior suit by Mrs Thompson was settled and dismissed. the hospital contended no negligence and the jury agreed.

Defrauding Hotel Guest Arrested in Burlington
J. L. C. Irvin an elegantly dressed man stopping at the De Lano hotel in Burlington was arrested on a charge of defrauding the hotel keeper after failing to pay board. He claimed substantial property in New York and said he was temporarily embarrassed. Similar trouble was alleged with a Davenport hotel. Trains Collide in Major New Jersey Wreck
In Rusling's siding near Bordentown a collision occurred between the Nellie Bly express from New York to Atlantic City and passenger train No 330 from Camden to Trenton. Twelve are dead and about thirty injured. a nine o clock special brought four more dead and eighteen wounded to Trenton. Walter Earl the express engineer and James Birmingham local baggage master were among the dead. most victims were Italians. The Nellie Bly ran in three sections and the third collided with No 330 after the local mistakenly came onto the main track.
