Despite strong teamwork Monticello misses many close shots as Manchester edges ahead 7-4 after Q1 and 11-7 by Q3. Monticello pressured defense but could not convert in the final period.
Monticello Triumphs Over Central City in Lopsided Victory
The Monticello high team defeated Central City 22 to 11 last Tuesday night in a clean game witnessed by a fair crowd. Captain Zubler led Monticello with repeated drives in the first half, as they opened 8–0 and extended to 14–4 at the break. Substitutions and a strong defense by Monticello limited Central City to a single field goal in the second half, with Central City scoreless in the final period as Monticello’s reserves defended the win.
