Petitioners claim about 125 signatures to call a special election likely tied to a March 11 school board vote. The present gym is too small for crowds and a band room is needed for the growing concert program.
Mr. and Mrs Randall Betz of Knoxville and Mrs Dean Mead of Cedar Rapids visited Mr and Mrs Edwin Juilfs in Onslow. Janice Mead, ill with chickenpox, returned home with the visitors. Friends of Mr and Mrs Henry Moenke hosted a dessert coffee and Five Hundred at three tables on Jan 31. John Hinrichs August Zimmerman and others attended. Paul Klein of Town City visited the Paulsen home. Alvena Paulsen injured her back in Cedar Rapids fall and is hospitalized at St Luke's. Willis Harrs and Neal Paulsen families joined the Paulsens Sunday evening.
Wyoming Parent-Teacher Association schedules a Founders Day meeting on February 22 to honor veteran teachers. If arranged, a community basketball exhibition may occur later. noon lunch served for students in an instrumental music contest at the Wyoming school April 18. Fourth grade won $1 for highest parent turnout. The Ju-Wom-O club held Jan. 21 at Mrs. Lucille Starr’s home with guest speaker Mrs. George Hansen recounting Latvia wartime escape. A spring band concert is set for February 15 featuring Mary Esther Orth and Blain Gibson.
The Buck Creek area reports a flurry of Sunday and weekend visits. Don Mossberry enrolled in business administration at the University of Iowa, with family hosting and travel updates from Solon to Independence and Monticello.
Jones County 4-H Builders met January 28 at the Farm Bureau building Anamosa. Denny Larson announced plans to attend the state 4-H camp near Boone March 23 and 24. Committees named include Janet Zimmerman chair Joe Spahr Bob Hilers Jim Goedken Judith Black Kathryn Wacker and Judy Poppe chair with Joe Barth Susan Peet and Bill Ballou on the entertainment panel. The group discussed demonstrations on The Selection of Clothes and Taking Care of Clothes and a 4-H exchange with Fayette and Clark counties Kentucky. Mrs Tillie Wosoba returned from Cedar Rapids St Luke's hospital after surgery and is recuperating at her daughter’s home.
