Monticello Adult Education Adds 133 Participants
Monticello Community High School reports 133 adults enrolled in the 1967 Adult Education program directed by Elmer Anderson. Six classes ran last week with the popular investments course drawing 58 students. other offerings include men and women conditioning, art, typing, and retail salesmanship. Enrollment continues this week except for the art class.

Peck named new Iowa Electric manager in Monticello
Robert A. Peck succeeds Walter R. Zubler as commercial manager of Iowa Electric Light and Power Co in Monticello. Peck, longtime Cedar Rapids commercial office employee, takes effect Feb 13 and will move his family from Mount Vernon to Monticello. Zubler’s career with the firm since 1926 included Monticello division manager and later commercial manager.

Monti cello Community High School Music Concert Feb 21
The Monti cello Community high school music department will present a concert on Tuesday February 21 at 8 p.m. in the Central high school auditorium. The senior band mixed chorus and junior high band will perform with the senior high concert band playing light numbers Latin American rhythms and a piece depicting a new sport in Japan featuring pinball machines.

The M Club plans a Saturday banquet at Shannon School starting 6 30 with a dance to follow. Ray Stumbaugh MHS band director will speak, Curt Bradshaw Cedar Falls will perform, and 29 new members including seniors juniors and sophomores will be initiated along with honored AFS student Hans Manson.

Jaycees plan awards dinner in Monticello
The 1967 Jaycees awards banquet will be held Feb 18 at 6 30 p m in the Monticello Community building. Dr Donald Kaiser says Outstanding Jaycee and Outstanding Boss of the Year will be named along with other Jaycee awards. Fire damages O Connell home in Temple Hill
An early morning blaze of unknown origin destroyed the home of Frank and Tim O Connell in Temple Hill. They were hospitalized in Monticello for exposure. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.

Theft and vandalism report in Jones County
Jones County sheriff reports two crimes over the holidays. Dennis Hilzendagar reported Friday missing a Reguar revolver and a .22 Marlin lever action rifle from his trailer near highway 151 south of Anamosa after returning from work at Collins Radio Co. in Cedar Rapids. Vandals pried open a door and smashed windows at an empty Sawyer estate farm house 2 1/2 miles southwest of Morley, suspected to occur during Christmas.
