The Monti cello Farmers' Mutual Creamery held its annual meeting in the opera house last Monday. J. H. Zimmer man presided, Emil Stutt served as secretary, and new directors were elected for 1934. The patrons received 23.75 cents per pound of butterfat, higher than 1932. A tribute to late treasurer H. M. Carpenter was adopted. Hugh Orchard of Cedar Rapids gave an entertaining, humorous talk urging farmers to persist in their work.

Friends visited Mrs. Nellie White Hubbard at her home Tuesday February 6 in honor of her eightieth birthday. Born February 6 1854 in Worcester Massachusetts she later moved to Leicester before marrying Edgar Hubbard March 14 1872. The couple will mark 62 years of marriage next month. The Hedrick family later moved to Iowa settling in Castle Grove then Monticello where they have resided for 31 years.

Mrs Lyman Fraser Injured After Fall at Home
Mrs Lyman Fraser of West First Street is recovering from severe bruises after a fall down her cellar stairs last week. She tripped at the top and fell headlong, was unconscious, and lay on the cellar floor for an hour before regaining consciousness while alone and crawling up the steps.

Deaths of Monticello Residents Mark Week of Loss
William J. Aitchison longtime Monticello resident died at his Third street home last Saturday evening due to heart trouble. He was born in Tralee Ireland January 31, 1862 and spent years as a farmer and butter maker in Cascade and Bowen's Prairie. He leaves two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren, and survives siblings and inlaws. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church. Edgar G. Brazelton, lifelong local resident, died at his Lowell township home last Sunday evening after a long heart illness. He had worked on a rural route out of Monticello and was engaged in real estate and insurance with Pred McLaughlin before retirement. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Monticello.

Mrs Fiora Beels sold the Hopkinton Leader to Leo J Sullivan this week. The paper long published by W S Beels for 33 years passes to Sullivan the fifth editor since Louis Jackson started the weekly in Hopkinton over sixty years ago. WHBU Station Destroyed By Fire In Anderson Indiana
Fire destroyed WHBU radio station in a six story Anderson building on January 28. Loyal Podhaski, a former Monticello boy, remains with the station as rebuilding begins. The blaze caused extensive damage, knocked out 200 offices and the telephone exchange, left seven firefighters and two officers injured, and left only towers and the office safe.
