Ricklefs Participates in Refugee Project at Camp Kilmer
Pvt. Henry N. Ricklefs of Anamosa serves in Project Mercy at Camp Kilmer New Jersey aiding thousands of Hungarian refugees admitted to the United States. Selected Army personnel help establish and operate a reception and housing center for the refugees. Ricklefs belongs to the 19th Engineer Battalion at Fort Meade Maryland and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Ricklefs.

Sunday in Cedar Rapids the University of Iowa football team received a sendoff for Pasadena California and the Rose Bowl game on New Year’s Day. First officer Jack Beeks, son of Mrs Beulah Beeks of Monticello, piloted one of the two planes. Weather forced the squad to travel by bus from Cedar Rapids to Moline for takeoff.
