Thanksgiving dances at Onslow draw crowds. ice skating grows in popularity as ponds thaw. Rev Albrook’s sermon draws large audiences. J C Freemont ex slave Cherokee Town lecture deemed a failure. J W Campbell Monticello travels selling rubber stamps and broom factory goods for D E Pond. Photographer Finley moves to Olin to open a new shop.
Jones County District Court opens next Monday under Judge Giffen for a three week term. The docket shows few new civil cases but substantial old business likely to keep the court busy. A long list of criminal cases includes State vs. Davis, McPartland, Winters, Campbell, Orr, Hagen and others for offenses from rape to murder and nuisance. Civil dockets feature numerous assignments and plaintiff defendant pairs across multiple firms and counties. Hood's Sarsaparilla advertised for catarrh and consumption with testimonials, and St Patrick's Pills promoted for liver and bowel disorders with missionary endorsement.
