Two Convicts Escape Attempt at Anamosa Prison
Yesterday at the State quarry near Anamosa, convicts Comstock and Toman cut their guards’ line, escaped over a river. Comstock was shot in the head and likely killed. Toman is believed wounded and at large. Comstock, convicted of rape in Cedar County, had a ten year sentence. Toman from Benton County with a fifteen year term for murder.
