Between him and death was the quick thinking and knowledge of artificial respiration of Miss Ja nana Downie Decorah lifeguard. Miss Downie and another swimmer pulled Thompson from the pool. After the girl had given him artificial respiration for five minutes he recovered and was back swimming next day.
Audubon Couple Involved In Auto Mishap
Mr and Mrs Hans Hansen of Audubon were involved in a recent automobile accident. The incident caused minor vehicle damage with no serious injuries reported and police filed routine notes at the scene.

Decorah student Barth Thompson sinks in pool
Luther College student Barth Thompson nearly drowned last week when he sank to the bottom of a Decorah swimming pool. Lifeguards and bystanders assisted him, pulling him from the water and reviving him on the pool deck. He was treated for non life threatening injuries and remained under observation.
