Iowa state College extension service reports 60 counties hosting demonstrations this fall following 181 demonstrations last year in 36 counties. Cooperating herds saved about 0.8 pigs per sow more than state average, with gains attributed to better pig type and milking quality as farmers plan careful sow selection for fall breeding amid rising hog values.
