Land Spring notes that Arthur Huggins of Hopkinton married Emma Olmstead, daughter of Allen and Mrs Olmsted, in Manchester last Wednesday. The item lists many local visits, travels, and social calls among residents, including nursing student Clara Gestel, sheriff candidate L. J. Pride, and illnesses.
Jacob H. Courtney died Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock. Funeral at the Methodist Episcopal church Friday at 1 p.m. burial in North Madison cemetery. Born June 10 1837 Berkeley Springs West Virginia he settled near Center Junction after the Civil War. He survived by his second wife Alice Riley and several children, all gathered for the funeral. The note calls out local events and residents including Epworth League lawn party and a lecture at Monticello.
The community mourns Hubert Blayney of Olin who died in July after being wounded in France. Local news covers a July ending death and a street back-out collision injuring the rear car, plus various social visits, visits with relatives, and local happenings in Wyoming and nearby towns.

Frank Pesky and Bobbie returned from Roelwell City with Mrs Pelky and her mother Mrs Griekels. Jacob Leesavamp failed physical exam after camp departure. J A Glenn and Genevieve left for Lavina Montana and other western points. Kitty Sutherland and son Owen visited relatives here. Starry Johnson hosts brother Jerry and family from Reel Island. Mr and Mrs Ray Walraven visiting from Great Bend Nebraska. Frank Royden reports good placement at Camp Forrest Georgia. Miss Illa Tuoomis visited Davenport with sisters. Rev Park resting with his brother in Illinois. Gladys Himebaugh visited Epworth friends.

Baldwin named assistant food administrator for Dubuque County by Federal and Administrator J J Deems of Burlington. Raffety held a successful auction selling real estate and personal property with Stephen Green buying the residence for 2550 dollars. Michael Moes, longtime farmer of Washington township Jones County, died after a strenuous harvest day due to heart failure. He was born in Meddingen Luxembourg on June 26 1863 and came to the U.S. with his family as a child. Survived by his wife Anna Leesecamp and two children Mary and John Vincent, plus his father John Moes and brothers Peter James and Hamill and sister Mrs Thomas McGovern. The late Mrs Theodore Levtem was his sister.
