Duty to Buy Liberty Bonds Promoted in Townships

In Monticello and Lovell townships no yellow slacker cards were required as residents refused to buy liberty bonds. A few were compelled to be seen and meet subscription after visiting headquarters, but most reached the required limits. Neighbors in nearby townships faced similar pressure and ultimately met the committee’s requirements. It would have been better for those men to act from the start to avoid suspicions of disloyalty or pro German leanings.
