Man and Woman Meet by Brook in Hostile Valley
Jim Saladine encounters Jenny, a fisherman’s daughter, while angling down the brook. He is drawn to her quiet beauty and learns of a tense local atmosphere as Marm Pierce and others hint at past feuds and hidden connections in the valley. The scene ends with Bart Ferrin returning with a wounded woman, signaling trouble to come.
