Bridal shower honors Sharon McDonell in Worthington
Sharon McDonell was feted at a bridal shower Sunday at the Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mc Donell home in Worthington. Hostesses were Mrs. Tom Mc Donell and Mrs. Steve McDonell Jr of Monticello. Thirty five relatives, friends and neighbors attended. The couple to be Sharon McDowell and John Geers of Petersburg plan to wed April 24 at St. Pauls church in Worthington.

Jones County Delegates Attend Iowa TB Assn Anniversary
Jones county delegates attended the Iowa Tuberculosis and Health Association golden anniversary convention in Des Moines on April 8 and 9. Mrs. A F Walker Monti cello president of the Jones county association Mrs Delbert Grafft Olin president elect and Mrs C R Smith Wyoming patient service chairman represented the county. Recognition pins were awarded for 25 years of service with Mrs Smith earning 34 years. Mrs W B Clark Monticello was unable to attend. her award will be given at the Jones county spring meeting April 22 at Poplar Heights. As a convention feature counties were asked to bring county gifts. Yeoman and Co garden equipment Monticello donated garden tools for the Jones group door prize.

No danger of flood at Delhi dam says official
Charles Redman manager of the Interstate Power Co. said on Monday there is no danger of flooding at the Delhi dam unless very heavy rain occurs. The Maquoketa river ice is breaking up and the dam has handled high waters for a month. During Sunday’s power failure Redman had to operate the plant manually due to oil pressure loss.

Hartwick area sees delayed power return and poor road conditions
The report notes power restored to Dyersville in 23 minutes while the state mostly remained dark. Dam and Hartwick bridges' roads are severely damaged and barely passable. Archie Covey of Hartwick Lake Marina says traffic has been at normal levels for 36 days since conditions returned to normal.
