The main shaft of the Dana Goal Co mine is being straightened and shaped after a contract let by the receiver. It is expected the mine will be in running order within sixty days.

Miss Madge Griffith and Dwight Richards were married Saturday at Rockville at the Presbyterian manse by the ruling minister. Mrs. Richards is the only daughter of Mr and Mrs H B Griffith and a popular young lady. Mr Richards is a young farmer from the Coloma area. They will live on the Clay Carver farm near Coloma and begin housekeeping at once. The couple receives warm congratulations and best wishes for a happy life together.
The Knights bought a piano for their hall and are making improvements to the meeting place appearance. Elder W. H. Ashley of Lebanon will preach at the Christian Church Sunday June 19 at 11 A M and 7 30 P M with everyone invited. Raymond L. Wheeler opened a vulcanizing shop in Montezuma offering tire and tube vulcanizing and accessories with modern equipment, located at Norris Wheeler's residence until a room is secured.
The Montezuma Ball Club reports no existing organization funds and requests support to raise money for a new set of uniforms. Managers and players listed include E White, Dodge, Jap Smith, T Lawson, H Anderson, S Pearman, F Tucker, and F Watson, with several games scheduled.
The Modern Woodmen held a meal last Monday evening to welcome a new member, farmer Mr. Clifton. A cream was served and the gathering featured socializing after the induction.

Fire broke out early Tuesday at the Marx Breidenback home occupied by barber Johnson in northeast town. John Cole alerted others at about 4 AM. family was away in New Richmond and had just bought a barber outfit when two prior fires occurred since arrival.

In a raid near Centenary on Tuesday morning Jesse Runyan and his son Ben Runyan were shot and killed by deputy sheriffs Roy Wright and Roy Straus after resisting arrest and firing on officers. The bodies were taken to Clinton for an inquest. A still, barrels, about 30 gallons of liquor and 40 gallons of mash were seized at the Runyan distillery under the Katts emergency deputy sheriff law.
