Montezuma Schools Open With Noted Faculty Lineup

Montezuma High and Primary schools begin Monday September with J G Hirshbranner as principal. A G Cleaver leads the high school with Ruth Butcher as assistant. Gertrude Rierden and Hil degrade Haspel take 6th 7th and 5th grades respectively. Caleb Picard is Primary principal with Aileen One and Sallie Ather Grade One. Irene Henke will head the music department. The staff aims to sustain Montezuma’s high educational standing.

NEW ELEVATOR Grows as Mont ezuma Mill to Boost Grain Trade

The Montezuma Mill and Elevator Co builds a modern grain elevator on the old Cob Mill site in Mont ezuma Indiana. It spans 170 by 32 feet brick and concrete construction with 24000 bushels corn capacity and 4000 bushels small grain, powered by gasoline, designed by George W Rohm and supervised by Mr Hebler of Mansfield.

Catch on Sugar Creek Nets Twenty Four Fish

Good Catch W L McCord and son Rosco fished Sugar Creek last week and reported fine sport with a first day catch of twenty four fish weighing up to two and a half pounds. Ross Bonn of Linton visited B F Pitman and family the same week. Ianapolis Tuesday with the rank Berry joined school children for an event.

At Chicago on Wednesday the Moosers chose former president Theodore Roosevelt to lead the Progressive Party with Governor Hiram Johnson of California as running mate. A broad platform was adopted amid hymns and intense enthusiasm across the nation.

New Water Tank Replacing Old Structure in Town

The C. H. and D. crew works on a large new water tank here to replace the aging one. The old tank will be torn down once the new facility is ready. The foundation is solid concrete and the tub will be built from seasoned wood to hold about 6000 gallons.

Mr and Mrs Will Brockway hosted a social in honor of their daughter Hazel sixteenth birthday. About forty guests from the surrounding vicinity attended a gala evening of games and charades, with many expressing thanks for the pleasant entertainment.

Montezuma Welcomes Newman Band and 750 Pool Admissions

Hoosier Amusement Company Brings Big Street Carnival

The Hoosier Amusement Company arrives by C H and D railroad from Frankfort Indiana. They set up all attractions including a fifty foot Ferris wheel and a New Century merry go round costing two thousand two hundred and two thousand eight hundred dollars respectively. The company fields about seventy staff and two baggage cars plus a passenger coach.

Fire Halts at Smiler Maxwell’s Restaurant

A small blaze erupted Wednesday evening at Smiler Maxwell’s restaurant when a gasoline tank leaked and gas ignited near the lighting system. Quick action from bystanders stopped the fire before it spread to nearby buildings.
