Elva Marshall, night engineer at the Interstate mine near Blanford, reports an imported Scotch Collie owned by the mine fire boss fell 285 feet into the shaft Monday night. The dog scratched above an eye but otherwise escaped serious harm after landing in the shaft and apparently regained the surface with a whine.

Francis C Moore born May 21 1859 in Clinton county Indiana died April 4 1923 aged 63 years 10 months 13 days. He married Hannah A Smith and they had five sons two of whom died earlier. Wife Hannah died March 21 1907. Survived by Frank Moore Montezuma Guy Moore Danville Sr Clyde Moore Ellis Jr. and three who preceded him Ernest 1897 and Jesse killed in action in France May 28 1918 while serving World War I. The family notes his faith and readiness for death.
