Mixed Train Complaints Spur Wisconsin Rail Commission Inquiry

Colin W Wright of Monroe petitions the Wisconsin Railroad Commission to investigate Illinois Central service between Monroe and Madison. He cites a sole mixed train for both directions with late departures, poor reliability, and insufficient daytime passenger time in Madison, urging faster northbound departures and earlier southbound arrivals with Sunday service.

Drawing of Lots At Grandview Addition

The drawing of lots at Grandview addition occurred Saturday afternoon at the armory. All lots sold at a flat $250, with three bundles including $500 worth of material drawn by N B Treat Gilford Mitchell and Samuel Hamnan. Sixty four lots exist and many houses are expected to be built this season.

Martintown Man Dies Suddenley While Driving Load of Wood

Harley Spencer, about 50, unmarried, died suddenly Friday while driving a team hauling wood through Martintown streets. Onlookers found him fallen atop the load. he had long lived in Martintown and was widely known in the county.

Infant Lemont Drake Dies After Illness

Mortuary notice reports infant Lemont Drake, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Drake of Clarno near Bethel church, died Saturday after a two week illness from pneumonia. He was one year old and an only child, with many friends offering sympathy.

Monroe Boy Killed in Jamestown Yard Accident

Thomas Keegan of Monroe was killed at 11 o clock Sunday night while working as a switchman in the Northern Pacific yards at Jamestown North Dakota. His twin brother John Keegan sent the telegram from Council Bluffs to their mother Mrs Julia Keegan detailing the death and pending return of the body.
