Farm tenancy rises in southern Wisconsin counties
Madison May 11. Professor H C Taylor of the University of Wisconsin reports that the number of rented farms in the twelve southern counties nearly doubled from 1880 to 1900 and has continued to rise. The study traces tenancy trends, age patterns of tenants, and the shift from land owners to renters across Rock, Milwaukee, Dane, Racine, and other counties, noting rising land values and a gradual path from tenant to owner.
