Crop conditions in the state and tax report noted
The week saw temperatures from 72 on the southwest border to 63 by Lake Superior with early heat giving way to cooler days. Rainfall was liberal and well distributed, heavy in northern and eastern counties with over an inch weekly total. Central counties faced severe storms including a tornado in Waupaca and Outagamie. Corn progress matched last year, crops generally fine though weed growth and rain slowed cultivation. Winter wheat and rye ripening, oats and barley excellent, haying delayed, pastures excellent, potatoes fair, fruit abundant. Internal revenue notes show a brewery tax year ending July 1 with revenue up about 10,000 and total beer output 0.818 barrels. Revenue tax impact higher due to war taxes.
