The Sh. Lois sheet range men, about four score strong, have departed Monroe for Mrsenda to continue operations. Reports say they swept up everything in their path while expanding a nationwide agency. Employers urge cash payments, promising mortgages on nearly all possessions, to attract victims in a shift that could devastate local residents.

Mr and Mrs Henry Durst hosted a Christmas gathering with neighbors and friends on a Sunday afternoon. Attendees included Mr and Mrs W. Bragg, Mrs P W Paffer, Mr and Mrs D Dunwiddie, Mr and Mrs J J Sose witt, Mr and Mrs J C Hood, Miss Nettie Van Matre, Mrs Elizabeth Ward, Burlington, Mrs Flo Swank and Glen Soseman, Miss Kinme Va Mabry and Louise Durst assisting in serving.
Tickets sold to points within 200 miles of Monroe at one third fare for the round trip. Valid on December 24 25 31 1898 and January 1 2 1899. Return time January 4 1899. HO Kenny.
Goldberger's concert and dance closed the Christmas season of 1818 with a well attended program. The hall featured red, white and blue bunting, the gallery filled with spectators, and over fifty couples dancing to favorable reception. The event raised a neat sum for the orchestra and marked another successful social gathering by the local performing group.
Fi G Done, a traveling chemical dehorner from the Third ward, fell Monday on an icy crosswalk between Miller's big store and the Leader, breaking a small bone in his left leg about five inches above the ankle and injuring his back. He climbed to Dr M Loofbonrow's office for setting, then was taken home. Recovery expected at least three weeks.
