Deputy struck and dog punched in Holmen disturbance
LA CROSSE AP A La Crosse man Chad Kowalke is charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with ten crimes after deputy responding to a disturbance says Kowalke punched a woman and pushed a man. Kowalke allegedly punched a police dog when told it would attack. The deputy was struck in the face and Kowalke spit in an officer’s eye at a local hospital.

Charges dismissed against former prison chaplain Witch
OSHKOSH AP charges were dropped in Winnebago County against former Oshkosh Correctional Facility chaplain James Witch charged with sex with an inmate. Witch had asserted she was a hostage amid an inmate assault in August 2011 and was fired in March 2012. Prosecutors cite a changing inmate account and lack of confidence in a conviction. Witch plans to sue the Department of Corrections and other agencies soon.

The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
