Monroe School Board honors three teachers for literacy plan
In a Monroe Board of Education meeting on Monday August 26 the board honored three teachers for work implementing a Lucy Calkins writing workshop model set to begin in elementary schools this year The honorees are Renee Tordoff Glenda McKeon and Sheila Anfang The workshop includes writing lessons book study groups and aligned units of study Also approved hiring Lisa Wunder and Ryan Dahmen as teachers and staff and accepted the resignation of Cheryl Christensen The board adopted a basic life insurance premium payment resolution from the Wisconsin Retirement System Department of Employee Trust Funds

BTC names Urban Monroe campus director
Matthew Urban of Monroe has been named director of the Blackhawk Technical College Monroe campus by BTC President Dr. Thomas Eckert. He will oversee administrative operations and public outreach in Green County, build local business ties, and advise on program needs. Urban joined BTC in 2007 and previously led community relations efforts and training programs.
