Wireless reports from New Orleans describe ten deaths and about 150 injuries with one million dollars in property loss. The storm, a gulf hurricane, caused citywide damage including the French Market area, power failures, and suspended rail and communications services.
Mobile Alabama reporting one of the worst tropical hurricanes in history. Levees south of New Orleans flooded, Bay St. Louis at six o’clock reported water six feet deep in the business district, great property loss, and widespread communication outages.
