Rooming companion Miss Ethel Steers aged 19 of North Lima Pennsylvania was held for questioning after saying she slept through the fall and learned of the death when Peterson’s body was found in the street.
Mrs. Winifred Dix obtained a Mexican decree for cruelty on June 29 and filed for divorce from Richard Dix the film star. The couple announced they were parting as friends with a large property settlement and a trust fund for their 10 month old daughter Mary Ellen, custody awarded to Mrs. Dix. The child will visit her father periodically.
Senate committee hearing reveals Henry Herberman of Export Steamship paid C Bascom Slemp 50000 for legal work tied to 18 Shipping Board vessels bought by Export Line for 1171431 after repairs cost 1825718. A letter dated September 26, 1933, details the payment.

Paterson New Jersey September 27 Louis Kenneth Neu a 26 year old singer and former seaman from Savannah Georgia was en route back to Louisiana to stand trial for the slaying and robbing of Sheffield Clark a visiting businessman from Nashville Tennessee in a New Orleans hotel He left behind Eunice Hotte a New Orleans waitress in officers custody after kissing her cheek and bidding goodbye The girl accompanied Neu to the east in Clark s automobile and was arrested with him and another man after officers stopped the car in Jersey City Neu admitted killing Clark in New Orleans a week after he said he killed Lawrence N Shead a theater manager in Paterson He was turned over to New Orleans police and started to New Orleans under an agreement between the governors of Louisiana and New Jersey that if Neu escaped the death penalty in New Orleans he would be sent back to Paterson
In Dallas three thieves looted the Dallas Window Cleaning company by borrowing tools to crack a safe but could not open it. They returned the hammer drill and chisel to the tool room and left without a reward. Superintendent George Beyer found the damaged safe and misplaced tools when reopening the shop.
The U S justice department reports $73 250 of the Urschel ransom located buried in a cotton patch on a Coleman Texas farm near Dallas The farm owner Cass Coleman is Kathryn Kellys uncle and he has been taken into custody The recovered total now stands at 79650 of the 200000 ransom with further searches continuing for the remaining funds
John M. Keith a Justice Department special agent announced Langford Ramsey attorney and brother in law of George Mac hine Gun Kelly confessed that Kelly sent him to Coleman Texas to recover part of the Urschel ransom. About 73 250 was recovered near Coleman today. Kelly got 75 000 of 209 000 Urschel ransom money and Albert Bates got another 75 000. Bates is on trial in Oklahoma City. Kelly was reportedly in Chicago Sept 21 when a federal reserve bank holdup and a policeman’s death occurred.
